VOX Liminis

Vox Liminis’ – it’s Latin. It means ‘voice from the threshold’. The threshold isn’t ‘in’ or ‘out’; it’s a powerful in-between space, where voices can speak to each other, and be heard, despite their differences.
As an arts organisation, established in 2013, we equip people with the creative tools to express themselves. Whether it’s through writing songs in prison or making films, or developing apps, we help individuals to explore their experience of criminal justice, and ask them how justice might be reimagined.
What is it like to have your life turned upside down by a prison sentence? What kind of prejudice do you encounter as a young person with a family member in jail? And what good does it do to write a song, or make a film about it?
We help people who might have radically different life experience to engage in creative conversations. People share their insights, and form connections at the ‘thresholds’, turning in-between places into common ground. The ability of the arts to help us find that common ground is crucial to creating a fairer, safer future for Scotland; one that is based on understanding, not ignorance; acceptance, not prejudice.

Cake Days a Week

Christie Howieson is a self-taught baker and cake designer who found her passion for baking in early 2013. She started humbly and 'by accident' during her Graphic Design degree at the Glasgow School of Art when she was asked to make a last minute birthday cake for a friend. It was her first experience with fondant icing and from there her interest blossomed.
During her degree Christie baked at weekends, honing her craft and never saying 'no' to a commission. When she graduated she entered into the Graphic Design world, taking up a job as a designer within a small drinks creative agency in Glasgow. Working part time her cakes gained her massive social media success, raking up over 2 million online views which led her to December 2017 when she had to make the decision of going full time.
With support from her family and friends, Cake Days a Week began fully in January 2018. She gained premises in the East End of Glasgow where two very generous friends took a chance on her. Christie isn't scared of hard work and this venture is truly setting the course for a cake-filled future.

Finding suitable textures is a source of frustration for many designers while creating them manually can be difficult and time-consuming. Architextures solved this problem by making it possible to create, adjust and download textures instantly using a simple, intuitive interface directly in your browser.

Since launching the web app in April 2020 we've received an overwhelming response and now enjoy a large audience of architects, designers and game developers from around the world who use the site on a daily basis.
