A Workspace Built on Glasgow’s Business Heritage
Glasgow Collective is a coworking space and flexible workspace in Glasgow designed for entrepreneurs, freelancers, startups and growing businesses looking for more than just a desk.
Our mission is simple: to create a place where people can work, connect and grow together. Whether you're looking for coworking desks, private offices, meeting rooms or collaborative space, Glasgow Collective offers a professional environment in the heart of Glasgow where businesses can thrive. But the story of Glasgow Collective began long before coworking existed.
A Story Rooted in Glasgow’s East End
The origins of Glasgow Collective trace back to the mid-1800s, when Joseph Dunn, the great-grandfather of the Collective’s founders, left Galway in the west of Ireland and settled in Glasgow’s Calton district.
Like many immigrants arriving in the city at the time, he came in search of opportunity and built a life within the vibrant East End community.
In 1875, at just 26 years old, Joseph Dunn started a soft drinks manufacturing business producing “aerated waters” for the local population. Over time the business - Joseph Dunn Bottlers and Dunn & Moore Soft Drinks — grew to become the second-largest soft drinks manufacturer in Glasgow, behind AG Barr, the makers of the iconic Irn-Bru.
This entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to the local community continues to inspire Glasgow Collective today.
The Inspiration Behind the Collective
For many years the Dunn family business used a logo inspired by the Bailie James Martin Drinking Fountain at Glasgow Green, located near the site of the original factory.
Family folklore tells that this fountain was where Joseph Dunn would water his horses between deliveries as he travelled across the city.
Today, Glasgow Collective has adopted a modern interpretation of this fountain as its logo. The fountain symbolises a gathering place - a shared space where people come together.
That same idea sits at the heart of Glasgow Collective:
a place where businesses meet, collaborate and grow together.
From Industrial Roots to a Modern Coworking Community
The founders of Glasgow Collective, David and John McBeth, spent many school holidays working in the family factory and delivering products around Glasgow.
Their strong connection to the area and its history inspired them to establish a modern coworking hub in the same neighbourhood.
Today Glasgow Collective offers:
Flexible coworking desks
Private office space for growing teams
Meeting rooms and collaboration spaces
A supportive community of local businesses
Located at 15 East Campbell Street, Glasgow Collective provides a professional workspace close to Glasgow city centre while staying deeply connected to the character and history of the East End.
